About Me

Hi, my name is Matt Daugherty. In 2013 I started my first job in the IT field working on the helpdesk. My main role was to onboard new users, reset passwords, change out hardware for users (mouse, and keyboard) or setup zero clients. During my down time I bothered the server administrators asking for task, or if I could shadow them. The term they used to describe me was a sponge because I try to soak up all the knowledge. Which is something I still do. Before you knew it, they were throwing all sorts of task my way! From managing golden images and pools in VMware, to configuring VoIP phones and the telecom system.

During this journey I saw an engineer using this thing called PowerShell. I thought to myself… What was this magic? After talking with him he explained if I could learn PowerShell and automation my career would take me anywhere. My first personal task was to automate onboarding and offboarding associates. It took several months with lots of trial and error, but I completed my task. This was the beginning of a whole new life in IT for me. When I asked my old team how I did during my few years of working with them they stated, “we threw you to the wolves and you survived”.

After being in that role for about 2 Years I left and moved into the Information Security field and continued to work on my Automations skills. I also started my own YouTube channel in 2015 trying to teach people PowerShell automation (all though I been quite busy and have not came out with much content in the past year). Over the years I have created some powerful and useful tools. I like to share my knowledge and help others on their journey down the automation path. That is why I am starting this blog. I enjoy learning about new technologies and reading fiction books. I have a home lab I been working on the past year. I will work on making some post about the hardware and software I have running in my lab in the near future. I hope you enjoy this blog and learn a bunch along the way.
